The WLS International program in Thailand was well run for the two weeks I was there. Our coordinator was a dream. She is the warmest and most caring person I met in Thailand. She was always available and has a strong maternal quality that felt wonderful while in a new country. She went above and beyond what I would have thought her role was. All the volunteers in the group simply loved her. I think WLS has great volunteer opportunities.

I am from Portugal and during august, I worked in the WLS International's Health Program in India. My program was very different from what my WLS coordinator in London told me. Before my trip, he told me that when I arrive in India my local coordinator would discussed with me in wich hospital or clinic and service I would work. This did not happen. The doctor that was my host father talked to me about 2 or 3 services in the hospital that I could join - much different from what I've been told beffore I go. Then I stayed 1 day in radiology, and then I asked to change to ginecology.
In ginecology me and other volunteers just sat in the waiting room for hours. And there we were just able to watch! And even to watch something we almost had to beg to the doctors or nurses. In the first 2 weeks I worked only for 4 days, because there were a lot of holidays. I know WLS is not responsible about all those holidays, but they should have told me about them before I go. I felt so unuseful.
The local coordinator, Rajant Badjarayav seems much more a traveller agent than someone from a charity institution. And he is the coordinator for at least other 2 different organizations in India (IFRE and IVHQ). In other organizations he is called Ananta Kumar - he said that it is because his name is too long...
After two weeks I changed program, and I worked in a school in the morning and in the women's project in the afternoon for the last week. This programs were ok, and there I felt that I was really helping. There you really can tell that they need help but even there the program should be much more organized. So if you want to go and work in a school or with women these may be good projects and you can even try to organize it in a better way and help children to learn really english.
Still, my host family was really good.
It is very sad that this happens in a country that needs so much help and that has so many things to do. It is not right to take advantage from people that want to do something for the world.

WLS should be more organized, and try to check the coordinators' work in every countries. Please, travel and help in the best way you can because in India people are really poor but they are really kind and they give and give. But first try to check before you go what you will really be doing and try to go with an organization that gives you detailed and specific information about your work there. The information that they gave me before I go was really vague but I thought it would be good anyway and I traveled.

Try to help the best way you can without expecting nothing, but make sure the help you will be giving is the right one. When I came back, I sent an e-mail to my coordinator in London and he told me that volunteers working at schools and orphanages with this partner gave them very good feedback. And he also said that the health program is rarely booked and they will look into this program and that the info they gave me about the health program is what the partner gave them. He told me that they will not be promoting the health program anymore.

Hello, Did you complain to the police ? i am convinced that they are not honest BR Fab

This our second Volunteer Abroad program with WLS. We are so pleased with this organization. My 4 children (21, 18 and 14 year old twins) and I will most definitely make volunteer arrangements through WLS again.
We went to China two years ago, and Vietnam this summer.
Both trips were reasonably priced, well organized and safe.
There was flexibility to make changes and any questions or concerns were addressed quickly.
We stayed in (clean) hostel type facilities in both countries. The locations were convenient to stores and transportation. The transfer to and from the airport was provided, and we received all local contact information upon arrival.
The children and facilities we worked in were wonderful. We looked forward to going each day and it was certainly sad when it was time to leave.
Our family has taken a volunteer trip each summer for the last 12 years. I have had experience with organizations that charge a great deal and provide very little for the money. I was fortunate to find WLS International and would highly recommend them. The only downside is that their program is only in Asia; hopefully they will soon expand.

I had an amazing time volunteering in Chiang Mai with WLS. My coordinator was more than helpful in answering my many many emails. I participated in one of their new programs helping in a foster home called Kingdom Kids. The experience was extremely gratifying. I spent some time in both the orphanage and the foster home and found myself much happier and feeling that I was doing much more when I was at kingdom kids. My coordinator explained to me where my funds where going, so that I never thought the money I spent was going to to the wrong pocket.

I highly recommended this trip and this organization!

I just volunteered with WLS- Nepal in 2012. It was the first time I had traveled in South Asia and I was really nervous. but i found Wls specially the local partner in Nepal are very professional, supportive and helpful throughout the whole process. I appreciated their transparency and felt that my money was being distributed fairly. The coordinator and placement I worked with were amazing, with extra bonus, attended many festivals, everything is great, from airport pick up till the end of my volunteer placement. I end up crying when i left the country as I’m touch by hospitality of the local people, the staff in Nepal and my host family. I'd definitely recommend any of their programs!

Hello, I am planning to do a volunteering program with WLS International in Nepal. I was wondering if you had any other feedbacks/recommandations/advices to give me about your trip. I have not paid my plane tickets yet, nor paid the deposit, so it is not for sure because I am a bit afraid of the situation in Nepal and the organisation of WLS International while I'm there. If you could help me to take the step forward, it will be great. Thank you Elisa
