I try believe in Walking Tree Travel because of their dedication to their mission and vision: providing experiences that motivate high school students to become global citizens through engaging and immersive programming around the world. They work around the clock to provide safe, challenging, immersive, culturally sensitive (and FUN!!!) programs for high school students. They work with local communities to find homestay opportunities that give our students the opportunity to engage with other people and cultures around the world - truly a once in a lifetime experience. In Peru we worked in a local host community side by side with our host families on a project chosen and driven by them - allowing our students to engage culturally with community members in a responsible and sustainable way. Such a great, community-driven way to volunteer abroad.
Walking Tree Travel
As a group leader with Walking Tree Travel and the Smithsonian Student Adventure, I can see the immense reward the students get from participating in our Service Adventure trips. The challenges build character and leadership skills, the beautiful landscapes instill gratitude and stewardship and the friendships create joy and confidence. Vacation is one thing and a student travel program with Smithsonian Student Adventure is a completely different type of nourishment.
I had an amazing experience with Walking Tree Travel in Costa Rica. We went to a variety of places including a national park, hot springs, small towns, beautiful beaches, and more!
One of my favorite things about traveling with Walking Tree Travel is how immersive they make the experience. We had the opportunity to go to places that average tourists wouldn’t. As a result of this I learned about a lot about the local culture and felt that I had a very unique experience. Also, the guides were incredibly well educated about the places we visited, which helped make each destination even more exciting. The people I met in Costa Rica were incredibly friendly and I felt safe the entire time I was there. I highly recommend Walking Tree Travel!
I have had the pleasure of working with Walking Tree Travel as an outreach volunteer and love the benefit that this company brings to young adults. Not only does the program expose students to other cultures and experiences, but it can propel them into studying other languages, traveling abroad, focusing their college studies on international fields, or at least exposing them to life in other cultures and broadening their scope. Through the outreach project, I am able to connect with educators that want to bring these experiences to their students.
Traveling has such immense benefits that impact all areas of one’s life. It allows you to take an active interest in the world around you and exposes you to cross-cultural interactions that show you just how similar people really are. Travel gives you an authentic international experience that can not only impact your life but those around you. Go out and see the world!
I absolutely love Walking Tree. I have traveled with them four times now (Costa Rica, Spain, Senegal and Thailand). I loved each trip for the unique travel experience they provide through the homestays and the community service project. I would totally recommend Walking Tree to anyone looking to see a new part of the world and learn about a new culture.
