Shake Hands Volunteer Program have provided me with an excellent, enjoyable highly rewarding and memorable experience. The program was very well organized and structured. I must say” Great Proram and Great People“. They really made my volunteering experience great, besides being rewarding by itself was also culturally rewarding. The community was welcoming. Most of the children were enthuastic and very pleasant to teach, always smiling. Accommodation is comfortable and safe. The area is nice and quiet. The food was always great and I always look forward toward it. The team was very supportive and helpful, a pleasure to work with. If you have any problem it will be solved on priority basis. It is interesting to work in different cultural. They would help us with everything we required, even for organizing our trips after we would finish volunteering. I would love to recommend this program to everyone who is looking for volunteer program.

I've just returned from Jaipur after 8 weeks of volunteering with Shake Hands. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I didn't want to leave. Pranay and Amita are fantastic and were always around to offer help, give advice or simply chat. They deserve such amazing recognition for the projects that they have set up, they have created opportunities for so many needy children and equally offer the best opportunity for us to go and help them.

Originally I was meant to do the Street kids school for the whole 8 weeks, but there weren't any volunteers at the orphanage when I arrived, so Amita asked if I could switch to there for 4 weeks so the children didn't go without. I said yes and I’m so glad I did because I fell in love with the children at the orphanage. It was hard work emotionally, but worth it every minute, when you walk through the door in the morning & the children’s faces light up & they come running towards you shouting "deedee deedee" (sister). I will never ever forget them and they will always have a place in my heart.

I loved being at the orphanage so much I stayed an extra week there, so when I moved to street kids, I only had 3 weeks. This wasn't long enough, because I fell in love with these children just as much; I made the most of the time I had, but I do wish I could have extended my stay, my own plans prevented this though.

The volunteer house is fantastic; it’s comfortable, safe, secure and homely. There is internet access including Wi-Fi, there’s a TV and DVD player, loads of places to keep your stuff, plenty of space to socialise, a roof to soak up the sun and best of all there is Purnima, the fabulous cook and the best housemate ever. She is so fun to be around and will always make you laugh and of course her food is so tasty, best Indian food ever! I miss you Purnima!

I fully recommend everyone to go to Jaipur and volunteer with Shake Hands; I feel it is the best opportunity for volunteers in India and its affordable too. Amita and Pranay are brilliant hosts and would welcome anyone who wants to volunteer and get involved. Don’t ask yourself “should I go?” ask yourself “when will I go?” If I could, I would go back in a heartbeat, they are my Indian family and I miss them and all the children they are helping. Thank you Amita and Pranay for a fantastic volunteering experience. I miss you!!

This Indian program is much cheaper than the European or American Programs, I guess it`s because they don`t have fees for "western" administration services.
The accomodation in Jaipur was nice, clean, in a good middle class indian neighbourhood, with cook and driver. Also Pranay and Amita do a very good support and help where they can.
The conditions in the orphanage I worked in where of course not the best, that`s why it´s a meaningful work the volunteers do there. If you reduce your expectations, it can be a great pleasure to help the children an come in contact with the local people.

My experience with Shake Hands was great from beginning to end. I volunteered at the Street Children Education Program in Jaipur. Pranay and Amita (Program Coordinators)were always available to help, and the accommodations were comfortable and charming. I don't know if I have had better food prepared for me in life, but I do know the cost of the program was very reasonable considering the food, accommodation and and daily transport was included. My experience with the kids was really good, they were always so eager to learn and participate. I hope to return someday to work with the kids and to also say hi to the staff. All in all I had lots of fun with the other volunteers, kids, and staff.

Worthwhile and well run program. We chose the week when the regular teacher was away on vacation so support was less than it would otherwise have been.
The hostel and food was adequate. Perfectly safe for volunteers.
