Summer 2010, I decided to go to Jaipur for volunteer work with Street Children. I chose Shake Hands among all the other organisations becuase after answering all my questions before I got there, I felt completely reassured by the organizers that I would be safe and that my experience there would be worthwhile.

It surely was! We were provided with transportation to the house we were to stay in and not knowing what to expect, I was very pleased. Everything was clean, we lacked nothing as we were provided with tasty food daily, comfortable beds, a/c, and transportation to and from our volunteer site daily.

My time with the kids was heartwarming. It was such an amazing experience being around their smiling faces, them greeting you with "Didi" and a shake hand every morning. Watching their eagerness to learn was overwhelming.

Everyone at Shake Hands was very helpful, and they were always there to answer our questions. They helped us to organize transportation for our weekend trips, making sure that they knew where we were at all times. I truly felt safe in their company.

If I can do it all over again, I would definitely choose Shake Hands again and would recommend them to anyone thinking of volunteering in India!

I was able to participate in the volunteer program in the small town of Hatoj, near Jaipur, India for a month. While I was there, I taught soccer to the local teens and provided English classes for the younger children. The accomodations were comfortable, the food provided was tasty, and the program directors were extremely nice. When I caught I a cold, I was immediately provided transportation to and from a doctor for a check up and prescriptions.
The price for my month was reasonable and was more than worth it. Anyone looking for an enjoyable and interesting experience I defintely would reccommend this program.

Shake Hands is an excellent, welcoming, well organised and safe program. Everyone involved is super friendly and genuine. They make an effort to provide an experience that is authentic and substantial. A cultural learning experience and good fun! They are always there to talk, support and help out if necessary. They offer very good clean food and accommodation that fulfils all of one's needs. Most importantly, when you're there you create a very special relationship everyone involved, whether it's other volunteers, the organisers, the locals, or the individuals you teach. A truly valuable and lifelong memory. Highly recommended.

Last summer 2010 myself and my friend volunteered with shake hands-sankalp for a month. It was the most amazing and enjoyable experience. After researching a few organisations we easily chose Sankalp, as not only was it great value for money, also the contact we had with one of the organisers beforehand was very friendly and reassuring with any concern we had.

When we got to our volunteer house, we were surprised at how good the condition of the house was. The house was very clean and had all that we needed to enjoy our stay in Jaipur. We had daily access to the internet and computer so that we were able to keep in contact with family and friends at home.

Working with the street kids education was the highlight of the experience. Each morning we were collected and brought to our work place and collected again afterwards. There we met the most amazing kids. It was very obvious from the beginning that the priority of the organisation was for the benefit of the children.Sankalp organisation did its best for all the volunteer programs.

While staying in the volunteer house, we had an amazing cook, who made us lovely indian food each night. There was always so much food for us to enjoy.

During my first week in Jaipur I fell sick a little and immediately I was looked after and took to the doctor by one of the organisers Pranay Udawat. I was very well looked after.Pranay showed great concern for all of the volunteers.

At weekends we would go on trips with other volunteers and without fall, Pranay and a few others would help us organise the trips to ensure we got the safest and best out of the trip. On one occassion were a few of us attended an Indian wedding, the organisation gave us the volunteers phone so that we could get in touch with them if needed. We were always well looked after and Sankalp always made sure that we were not only enjoying our trip but safe too. Pranay and the other people involved were always there for any concerns or questions we had. They were always there to help us.

As part of the volunteer programme we also had a two week travel plan organised by Sankalp. The trip ensured that we got the most of our stay in India. We travelled to the Taj, Pushkar, The Golden Temple and much more. We then went on a Himalyan trek for three days. Throughout the 10 day travel programme Sankalp ensured that our, accomadation was of good standard and that we were well feed.

The cost of the programme was 800e roughly. I found that extremely great value for money. It included accommadation, great meals, all the trips within the 10 day programme, transportation to and from the workplace, pickup from Delhi airport and much more.

Since we returned home, Sankalp has continued to keep in touch with us. Sending us pictures of the children and updating us on the programme. It is definately one thing I want to do again. It was one of the most amazing life changing experience. Highly recommended.

Sankalp (Shake Hands) is an extremely authentic and lively experience. The cost of the trip was very reasonable, which is one of the reason I chose Sankalp. I was able to raise enough money to spend 5 weeks in India with the summer program and it was the best decision I have ever made! All people involved are very helpful, well educated and caring. The trip was well organized, clean, safe and authentic, which is what I has wanted to experience! The family that my group of volunteers, and myself, stayed with, was amazing! They opened up their home to us and made us feel welcome! The food and living accommodations were much more than satisfactory and the experience of making new friends, learning and being engulfed in a new culture and traveling throughout the country, seeing all there was to see, was more than I expected and much more than I could have asked for!
The team at Sankalp are highly professional, helpful and kind. They always made sure things were in order for our travel, helped us adjust by giving professional advice and direction, and kept our group safe and happy throughout the entire experience. I would not have wanted to experience India with any other organization!
