I just had a wonderful two months experience volunteering at an orphanage program in Ghana. The children were incredibly warm and affectionate. One can't help but fall in love with them. It was a privilege and a joy to work for them. They have become part of me. What I thought was going to be a two-month experience has turned into a life-long relationship.
What made the experience so productive was the great support I got from the amazing lady who runs the orphanage, Mrs. Sam, and the Evans Nkansah, our coordinator from IVHQ-Ghana. Mrs. Sam was warm, welcoming, and incredibly easy to work with. Evans gave the volunteers cohesion and direction for our work. I never felt lost or useless. He also provided a much needed liaison between the volunteers, IVHQ and the orphanage so we can all work in sync. I always felt I could turn to Evans for anything. I was very lucky to be part of this program. Without the support from IVHQ, I could not have had such a memorable experience and developed these precious relationships.
