Language House TEFL - Prague

I just recently graduated from The Language House Prague and would encourage anyone who is interested to take it! This opportunity is unlike any other. The staff is completely devoted to your success and focused on your ability to reach your full potential. I was daily amazed by their selflessness and student-focused agendas. The teachers believe whole-heartedly in providing you with a safe, supported and nurturing learning environment, all the while, pushing you beyond what you feel capable of doing. Being that they are all TEFL teachers themselves, they truly can relate and walk along-side of you. They never stop encouraging and challenging you! This course really pushes you and is very intensive, but it's extremely worthwhile and will prepare you for both living and working abroad. In just 4 weeks, I feel confident to teach because I know I've been taught by the best! If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me (eochsgregory@gmail.com). Go TEFL.

Language House TEFL - Prague

The Language House was an amazing, albeit challenging, experience that taught me so much about myself, Prague, and of course teaching English! The entire staff is first class starting with the director Chris Westergaard. From the minute you apply, he is there to answer every little question, I really don't know where he finds the time but he does and it definitely helps reduce the anxiety associated with uprooting and moving to a strange foreign land. I felt very comfortable and confident with each step of the process. They are a skilled and knowledgable team of professionals that have spent countless hours creating an effective, quality TEFL program. There are so many things to take away from the program when you're done but one of the most important to me has been the community of great friends I gained. Having a solid group of friends is so essential to the Prague experience. So I thank Chris and the rest of The Language House for making an awesome life possible in the amazing city that is Prague.

Language House TEFL - Prague

I was on this website reading reviews for possible volunteer/teaching opportunities for this upcoming year and stumbled upon some reviews for The Language House TEFL in Prague where I got my TEFL certification many years ago. I had to take a moment to write a review for them because I was so happy to see them listed. Honestly their program was AWESOME. It is an amazing value for the amount of education and training and especially the amount of support they provide. They will completely help you set up your life in Prague if thats what you are looking for (amazing job support, cell phone, flat, bank account). They also take a lot of time to organize social outings and showing you the city. Even though I did the program many years ago I still keep in touch with some people from my cohort and have recommended their program to others throughout the years as recently as last year and it seems their program is still awesome. If you are looking for a program that really teaches you how to teach english (you will be confident in what you are doing) and supports you in beginning a new life abroad then this program is a great choice.

Language House TEFL - Prague

I am a U.S. certified teacher at an international school in Prague, and I have been teaching here for over a year. One of my teaching certifications is in bilingual education, and all of my students are English language learners. After hearing such great reviews about The Language House from many of its graduates in the expat community, I decided to spend part of my summer vacation auditing the TLH methodology courses. (Because I only audited the classes, I cannot comment on the other aspects of the course.)

My intention was to expand my knowledge of teaching methodology in the area of EFL, and TLH definitely delivered. The classes I attended at TLH far surpassed the American teaching program I graduated from in terms of quality and effectiveness. The TLH methodology classes provided a strong foundation in best practices not only in TEFL but in education as a whole.

The instructors were phenomenal. Skip, Chris, Kate, Tom, Pete, Renee, and Andrea are all highly experienced and engaging teachers with impressive content knowledge. More importantly, they are obviously passionate about teaching, and sincerely care about helping course participants become great teachers. They are also longtime Prague veterans and are very forthcoming about living in teaching here.

Most tellingly, throughout the course, the participants were engaged in learning, enthusiastic about teaching, and supportive of each other both in and out of class. No wonder TLH has such a great reputation in Prague!

Language House TEFL - Prague

The Language House is the perfect place to go if you are looking to start teaching abroad. The owner, Chris Westergaard will help you every step of the way. The entire staff is very knowledgeable and helps you in every area of your life as you go through the course. They prepare Grammar workshops to help you effectively learn the material. One of the best things about this course is the fact that you have 12 hours of actual teaching time to different levels of people who want to learn English. If you don't know anyone they provide a welcome dinner and tour of the city to get you comfortable with your fellow classmates as well. The staff is constantly helping you find a potential job too. They even conduct mock interviews where you have a chance to have a one on one interview with someone who is very knowledgeable about the hiring process in Prague. I would highly reccomend this program to anyone who is thinking of becoming a teacher in Prague. It is a HIGH value for your money. They provide you with unlimited access to computers with printers, textbooks, and additional unique material throughout the course. They are extremely personable and will genuinely care about you and your experience abroad.

Language House TEFL - Prague

I enrolled in the Language House TEFL program during the summer of 2011, and took the course during the month of October 2011. During the summer, Chris Westergaard, the owner of The Language House, was very helpful and answered any questions I had about the program, Prague, or anything else my somewhat confused and uncertain brain could come up with.

The course itself was very difficult, but it was difficult in the sense that I knew I was getting my money's worth and learning as much as possible in its one month duration. All of the instructors on the course are very knowledgeable, helpful, and very good at what they do.

After graduating, I gained an interview at a reputable language school in Prague and felt very comfortable during the presentation of my lesson plan to the director of the language school, thanks to my time at The Language House.

Language House TEFL - Prague

I went through The Language House's TEFL course in one of the Summer 2011 sessions. It was easily one of the most challenging programs I've ever been a part of, but it was worth every minute. The staff was exceptional and extremely supportive. I don't have a traditional teaching background (I worked in a corporate auditing job before this), but by the time the course was finished, I felt like I was prepared to teach effectively. Again, it was hard work, but once you make it to the end, you'll be miles ahead of the other teachers you'll be competing with for jobs. I ended up having no problems getting a job in the Czech Republic as an English teacher after the course, and have been working successfully at it ever since. I'd highly recommend The Language House if you're looking at teaching English abroad.

TEFL Worldwide Prague

TEFL Worldwide Prague was one of the BEST decisions I've ever made in my teaching career. You don't even need to be a teacher to take it, but I speak from the perspective of professional wanting a challenge abroad - I found it at TEFL Worldwide.
I took the course 6 years ago after teaching in U.S. high schools for 4 years; I wanted to take my skills abroad and travel. I think that I learned more practical, hands-on knowledge that was directly applicable to my teaching from the first day there than I did in a lot of my previous teacher training. The teaching staff were extremely helpful and professional. The admin staff were supportive and accommodating and continue to be to this day when I call to check in (looking for my next teaching job abroad).
I feel I got every bit of my money's worth and more. Every bit of it was professional from their pre-arrival information to the accommodation, from the school library to the WiFi and printer access in-house, and above all - their great Prague location. I have landed great jobs in 4 countries in the years since I took the course. I highly recommend TEFL Worldwide Prague as it put me on firm footing in the TEFL/TESOL world. A big thanks to everyone there for helping unlock the world for me!

University Studies Abroad Consortium

USAC is a partner program at my university, these people are sales persons only want your money and do not help you at all through the process. I spent months chasing them for information, their answers were vague and not at all helpful, some even insulting. I am an immigrant in this country with a permanent residency and needed different documentation to get my visa, I asked them several times for 6 months in advance, since it takes 3 to get the visa for the czech republic.. the so called program advisor, a disrespectful, careless LAZY woman emailed me yesterday... 3 months on the dot before leaving for prague saying "I need a criminal background check from Argentina that needs to be picked up in person" Even if I were to have the money to throw around to incompetent people such as this person, and her team, if we can even call it that, by the time I got these documents and back it would be too late to get my visa. I had to cancel my trip yesterday, they refuse to give me all my money back, they want to keep $300 of a fee and extra money from other fees, I now have no housing, no classes, and no motivation to go back to school (I will be a senior next year) thank you USAC FOR RUINING MY EXPERIENCE AND MY SENIOR YEAR. I now how to pay extra to fix their mess. spent an extra $600 in NYC getting documents for this program in a hurry, INVAIN since these people didn't give a *** about timing. I am still waiting on the official letter they were supposed to send me to send in my visa papers anyway.. never happened. I am traveling europe on my own next semester since im out of school now thanks to their irresponsibility carelessness and dehumanizing mistreat. I am so sorry for anyone else who had an awful experience with this bull*** lier company full of business people who call themselves advisors... give me a friking break! I am an advisor, and I know how to tell people when I don't know the answer and will get back at them through email, I do not LIE to them and mess up their finances and experiences and future. I hope this review saves a few from making the mistake I made. I am ***ed beyond compare if you cant tell by this review. USAC should stand for USELESS SIMPLY *** CRIME or something of that sort.

TEFL Worldwide Prague

I took this course a year ago and really enjoyed it. It was challenging but fun, and did a great job at preparing me to teach English after completing the course. I have been teaching at a large language school in Prague since graduating and could not have asked for better preparation. In addition, the staff worked with me during and after the course to find a job. They offer lifetime job guidance so if I ever decide to move on to a different country I will have access to their extensive language school databases and job binders so I can find a job anywhere in the world.
Overall I was extremely satisfied with the program and would recommend it to anyone looking to teach English abroad.
