The 8 weeks I spent in Ghana were by far the most amazing experience. I had a great placement and enjoyed every single minute of it. I recommend it to everyone. Its something you will remember for the rest of your life.

Hi! I absolutely loved my experience while I was in Peru.I live in North Carolina, in the USA. I took Spanish Language courses during the morning hours, from 9-1. Than I had volunteering at the mentally/physically disabled orphanage from 3-5:30. This was a once in a lifetime experience I do believe. I was very nervous travelling by myself to a foreign country at age seventeen. But I was met at the airport, and taken directly to my host family. My administrator was very helpful, she took me to my classes, to my volunteer location the first day, and told me what buses to take from then on. A lot of people say they need to adjust to the altitude, but honestly it had no effect on me. (Not including I'm young, and athletic.) It was beautiful! Really the country is just magnificent and I wish I was still there! Haha. The organization took great care of me, I believe the only difficulty I had during my 4 weeks there was one of my agencys (not in the company, but scheduled by the company) was very confusing at to where to pick up my information, bus tickets while on my way to Machu Pichu. Also, the night life was amazing! Lots of clubs/bars/pool/places to walk, there are lots of tourist's from all different locations its exciting. If you go, make sure you are healthy, like to walk, like new experiences, and are good with changing plans. Its exciting, just very different from what your probably use to. The people are so different, customs and the way food is prepared/ or how clothing is made. Its so interesting, and will help you appreciate your own life. The orphanage really opened my eyes to how people live in other countries.

The program was great, this program allowed us to feel safe and enjoy our trip of a lifetime. The host family became my second family and am still keeping in contact with them. The people their were all so nice which made this trip open my eyes to poverty in the world and continue my future in college with a degree in traveling and doing volunteer work. I recommend using a broader view to explore the world around us.

My time in Kenya has taught me some very valuable life lessons and I have returned home with a different perspective on life. There are so many people in this world that are less fortunate yet somehow they wake up everyday with a smile on their face and a heart full of kindness and optimism. I know my contributions have helped improve many lives and that is a feeling that is indescribable. I am confident that this has truly been the most valuable life lesson I will ever endure and I will forever hold a very special place for Kenyans in my heart.

I'm surprised to read the comments below. I posted this review, and traveled to Kenya with ABV along with my friend Emily. If anyone has questions about my feedback, you can email me or contact ABV for my reference.
give me a break. almost all of these reviews appear to be written by the same person. when you really look at the style and the phrasing, it is very clear that this is just a person at the company making these posts up. that was my biggest concern about using this website to vet my choices. i've had my antennas up for this kind of thing, as I imagine it is hard to stop, but this one shines through as plain lying. for example, note how the usage of parenthetical statements is repeated by several reviewers that have different names. search for the word "amazing" and you will be amazed! search for the word "absolutely". notice how much praise is given for how hard ABV works. even the types of comments are clearly from a marketing person at ABV and not a real volunteer. i wish you could prevent these kinds of things from happening so people can trust your site more. please try to monitor these better.

this was my first time doing something like this and I went with my daughter. I was apprehensive and ABV was available to answer my every question. They set my mind at ease and gave me as much info as needed for my trip. The staff was at the airport to meet me and accompany my daughter and myself to our destination and made us feel very safe. I was very happy with them and would use them again.
