The programme I joined planned to teach in orphanage and teenage girls' home. I think it is meaningful to join this programme. Although the language barrier and cultural differences make teaching really difficult there, I did feel proud to at least make them happy during the whole process. They treasured our visit to them as this gives them opportunities to know more about the outside world. Also, I think it is interesting to live in a host family. I could understand more about the local culture and communicate with the local family. I think Michael, my host, is considerate and helpful. His arrangement and accommodation are nice. And he is always willing to give advice to our plans and needs.

I have stayed in Sri Lanka for 10 days and it is certainly a rewarding experience. The host family is very friendly, which gives us plenty of information about Sri Lanka. The meals provided are nice too. The project I carried out focus on orphans and teenage girls. For me, it is an unforgettable experience because I don't have much chance to help them in my home city. Overall, both the project and host family are nice and I would recommend other volunteers to join.

I volunteered in Sri Lanka teaching English to some orphans and teenage girls. It was my first time volunteering abroad, and while my family and I had hesitation at first, the experience proved to be both enjoyable and meaningful.

I stayed with my host Michael and his family, who were always there to help and answer our questions and doubts. They took care of everything for us from meals to traveling around, and helped us plan our volunteer work and journey with much patience and kindness.

I also had the chance to meet other volunteers from Canada, France and Hong Kong, and we all spent our time in Sri Lanka as if we were members of Michael's extended family. I was glad to have fun with the orphans and teenage girls, and it was fulfilling to see them learn while we learnt from them as well.

I have joined the one-week program offered by RCDP. We have gone to the orphanage and Senehasa Home In Galle of Sri Lanka. The coordinator has provided a lot of support to us. The home stay in coordinator's home was a good opportunity to immerse into the lives of Sri Lankan. Overall, it was a great experience.

My name is Caroline and I am from Canada. I came to Sri Lanka and stayed with Michael, who has an amazing family, they were warm and welcoming. Which was a relief cause this was the first time I had ever done this and I was very nervous at first. I would strongly recommend anyone to do this. You get a chance to experience a different culture and way of life. I spent 3 weeks at the local government run orphanage. It was a life changing experience, the children were so sweet that you can't help but get emotionally attached. The local people here were always so kind to me and always smiled back when I smiled at them. I thank Michael and his family from the bottom of my heart for opening their home to me and making me feel so comfortable. They were always so helpful, kind and answered any questions I had. I will do this again and I fully recommend this or the other programs you can pick from and if you have the chance to stay with Michael's family then it will be a home away from home.

5 stars for sure!!!!!

Thank you very much Michael
Your friend Caroline
