From the first time I sent an email to the CSA staff to when they dropped me off at the airport at the end of my semester, I was so pleased with the service they provided. I had never studied Chinese but was interested in learning the language and exploring Beijing and had such a good time with the staff and other students last fall! The best was the camping trip on the great wall - but I also learned so much in both my class and in the CSA tutoring sessions I had in the afternoons. It was my first time abroad on my own and I couldn't have done it without CSA. Once you realize everything included in their program fee (and that a semester program can be as cheap as $4500 or a year for under $8000) it's more than worth it - it's a necessity! I would sign up for another CSA program in an instant, it was an experience I will never forget!!

I am a parent of a 16 year old daughter who wants to spend a summer in Beijing, China. Is CSA a good company to go with. I cant find too many reviews online. What do you suggest. Thanks.
Anne, what school did you attend in Beijing?

i originally enrolled directly through a chinese university in beijing, but couldn't get any assistance with finding housing prior to my arrival. CSA on the other hand, could help me arrange an off-campus western-style apartment, airport pickup, and a host of other necessary and welcome services. they were attentive throughout my stay, and of course also provided sightseeing and social activities. although in the end i paid a premium, you do get what you pay for. i would not advise anyone to come to china for study, especially those with limited language skills, without the help of a study-abroad company such as CSA.

CSA were very supportive from the start and I would recommended it to anyone who plans to study in China. It is also a great way to meet people and weekend activities were fun and covered all the main tourists sites. Thank you CSA for a great summer!

I decided to go to China to study mandarin but was aprehensive to do so. Not being able to speak the language tasks such as finding accomodation, transfer to accomodation and enrolment to a program was daunting. China Study Abroad made everything a lot easier as they were able to sort everything out prior to arrival. Once in China the staff were friendly and always on hand if you needed help. Weekend activities not only gave you a chance to meet other people but also explore Beijing. This program also gave me the opportunity to volunteer in Hunan and teach english in a school, something I would not have otherwise been able to do. To finish my stay, China Study Abroad also has a summer study and travel program and I was able to visit several cities where everything was already organised (travel, hotel, guide, etc). I would definately recommend this program to friends and family.

I used China Study Abroad and found their services excellent. I was anxious at first to go to China and about using a service like this, but with the airport pick up I was assured that it was a legitimate company. They also helped me move out of my home stay family into a private apartment when the family became "less than welcoming" to say the least.
The excursions are great when they have them, and this is the best way to meet other students as well from all around the world (and China too). They also helped me volunteer in Hunan for a week teaching English to the children there.
Overall I would say that if you are considering studying in China, this is a very easy way to do it because you will be living close to all the major universities, you don't have to worry about dealing with registrations and you don't have to worry about dealing with Chinese landlords in renting a place.

I used this program for the 2007-2008 season and had a fantastic time. I met some really great people and found the service top notch. People were always on hand if I needed help, even at 2am in the morning whether it be I needed directions or recommendations of places to buy stuff. Using CSA took all the worry, guesswork and hassle out of dealing with landlords, bills and admin etc so I could just get on with studying and especially as I didn't speak a word when I first came this was invaluable. I don't know what kind of experience the anonymous person had or if they even attended the program at all but others and my friends who I met through CSA came out with positive experiences.
