Program Description:
We know that choosing a study abroad program is a big decision. That’s why
since 1999 ASA has helped thousands of students make sure it's the right
decision for them.

With programs in 8 countries and in 15 cities ASA has something for everyone. From Business courses in Barcelona to Journalism in Dublin to Environmental Studies in Costa Rica, ASA can accommodate just about every need!

The staff at ASA believes strongly in giving personalized attention, and
that's why we keep our group sizes small. We
don't think that having hundreds of participants on a program affords
students the personalized attention they deserve.
Imagine trying to get a tutoring session with a site director or hearing the
tour guide when your group size is over 100! While our groups typically
have fewer than 40 participants, you will still get to meet students from
other programs in your classes.

The ASA team is a group of people who are well-traveled, experienced in
foreign education, always there to assist you,
and best of all, they are people who have studied abroad themselves. We know
what it's like to move into a new home,
in a new country, with a new language, and it's this first-hand experience
that makes us true professionals when it comes to studying abroad.

We want to see all of our students leave our program feeling that they are
leaving the best experience of their lives. For some of our students, this
will be their first time outside of the United States and their first
exposure to a new culture. We recognize that this is not always an easy
adjustment, and our pre-departure and on-site orientations are designed to
help take away some of the “unknowns” and the guesswork that often leads to
anxiety.

ASA was an excellent program to study abroad with. The staff is extremely friendly, accessible, and helpful, and having somebody to go to during my first weekend in London for on-site orientation was very helpful. The program makes all of the paperwork associated with study abroad much more straightforward, and the package deal approach meant that I had much less organizing to do. I thoroughly enjoyed everything about my semester abroad in London at Regents College thanks to the support of Academic Studies Abroad. I also got to do a lot of outside traveling on my own time. The only setback was the school itself. I highly recommend London for a semester abroad because there is such a diverse culture and so many things to see, but the academics at Regents College are not up to American standards, even if they are labeled "Regents American College London." While the campus, facilities, faculty and staff at Regents are nice, their curriculum is nowhere near challenging enough, and some of the tutors were extremely poor teachers. The school lacks unity, and in spite of its incredible diversity, I was unable to make many international friends-I had very few classes with students from anywhere but America. What's more, I found many of the international students to be unapproachable. If I was considering a semester abroad in London, I would definitely go with ASA, but perhaps consider their London Southbank University Program instead, although I don't know much about that school.

I will forever be grateful to ASA for the study abroad experience they provided for me. Any qualms I had about living in a foreign country were eased by their informative pre-departure packet and friendly staff, who were always a mere phone call or e-mail away to answer any questions I had. Being part of a smaller program allowed me to instantly bond with others from ASA right away, which made the transition that much easier. Also, ASA is great about introducing you to your new home and helping you learn the ropes. I would recommend ASA to anyone wanting to study abroad.

I had an absolutely incredible time studying abroad with ASA. One of the greatest assets to ASA was the smaller program size. I felt like I had quality time with my resident director and we were all in her best interest. Being in a small group made me feel like I was actually immersing myself in a foreign country, rather than being a 50+ traveling group of Americans sticking out wherever we went. Being in a smaller group gave us more opportunities and also the courage and confidence to meet more locals and have a more real, local experience. I was really happy with my school and felt like my host family did a terrific job in looking out for me and introducing me to Catalunian culture.
I highly recommend Academic Studies Abroad for people wanting the best of both worlds, the opportunity to study abroad with a well-known,reputable organization and support, but also the opportunity to immerse yourself in a culture and country.

I had a great time with ASA. The program was really small which ended up being a great thing! I knew everyone by name and could easily and quickly get a hold of our site director. It was a very personalized program and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it to anyone!

I absolutely fell in love with ASA as soon as I signed up. They are so helpful from step A to step Z, from getting you on the plane to your destination to making sure you get home safely. When I was in Spain I never once felt like I was out of the loop with anything that pertained to my study abroad experience. My site director was amazingly helpful, and to this day we keep in contact and I can't wait to go back and visit her and my host family! If I can give you one word of advice, if you are feeling skeptical about which company to travel with or which city will fit your needs best, contact ASA because they are outstanding people who are here to help you.

Academic Studies Abroad could not have been a better program to choose for my semester abroad. They held my hand through the entire process of preparing for the experience, and they helped me with any questions that arose when I was overseas. Every ASA employee that I encountered was friendly and helpful. My group was small, and my site director became close friends with everyone. She was able to help me with all of my issues, such as overcoming the language barrier and which classes I should take. If you are a student planning to study abroad, I would highly recommend ASA.

My home university did not have an affiliate for London, so I was uneasy with the whole process of studying abroad. I came across ASA and those feelings quickly changed. They helped with every detail regarding the whole process. They got me ready for my new home. I could email them a question, and I always got a response almost immediately. They were there every moment of the way. An ASA representative was even there to pick us up from the airport in London! It was a comforting feeling having them there, and showing us around our new city. Even while living in our new city, and attending our new host university, an ASA rep was always a quick email away. I highly recommend ASA to any prospective travelers! They helped make my amazing experience truly unforgettable.

As a student studying abroad, I couldn’t have been happier with Academic Studies Abroad. From the very beginning, everything went smoothly and according to plan. From the very beginning paperwork, housing and classes abroad to getting transcripts back to my home university, it was seamless. Our program director, Elena, was also absolutely fantastic. She helped us with anything we needed and truly went out of her way to make sure each one of us was comfortable with our host family, roommates, classes and was always letting us in on all the little secrets Barcelona had to offer. Our program was also quite small which I really enjoyed. With ten members in our group, it allowed us all to form friendships with each other and really learn on excursions. I would certainly recommend Academic Studies Abroad to anyone looking for a really personal experience abroad. I enjoyed it tremendously and would do it again in an instant!! Thanks ASA!

ASA was an extremely good program. The classes were great and the on-site director was over-the-top helpful. Everything ran smoothly and I felt like the staff nurtured a great off-campus experience that opened my eyes to a very multi-cultural experience.

It is hard to believe that my study abroad experience with ASA was five years ago. During college I was interested in studying in London and with in minutes of submitting an online information request to ASA, Lee Frankel, Director of ASA, called me to explain what ASA had to offer--talk about customer service! After learning about what the program to London offered, I realized that this program was by far the most all inclusive program available. In addition to this, every time I had a question or concern (which was often!) the ASA staff was always there to guide me. I spent the best few months of my college career at Regent's College. In fact, my time studying at Regent's was so influential I ended up starting a career in International Education. Being a participant on an ASA program not only provided me with a truly unique study abroad experience, it helped me shape my future in both personal and professional ways.

I went with ASA to London the summer after my freshman year of college. It was great meeting students from all over the USA and not just my college. They took care of everything from my arrival to the departure. Even before you go you are given detailed information about the site, school, traveling, etc. They help get student discounts with flights, tickets and other passes into a number of events. Along with the program day trips were included, and I had all the free time to travel and explore the city when I wanted. I took "London Theatre" and LOVED the class and teacher. The school - Regent's College- was centrally located and in the middle of a giant and beautiful park. The food and dorms were great and I would go again in a heartbeat! The staff and faculty of the school and ASA were a tremendous help and I felt safe and supported while over there.
I am about to go again with ASA to Vina del Mar, Chile- where I expect to have just as great of a time as my first trip!
