Program Description:
Academic Programs International offers you the opportunity to experience the world, study in a foreign country, and earn U.S. university credit! An independent study abroad organization, API provides living, travel, educational, and cultural opportunities for U.S. students in Costa Rica, England, France, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Poland, and Spain.
There is no better way to broaden your horizons and expand your awareness than to live, study, and experience another country and culture firsthand. The study abroad experience provides this unique and unsurpassed opportunity for personal growth, individual revelation and maturity, and the possibility to master a new language and develop a sense of confidence and personal accomplishment. These qualities demonstrate to others that you are an individual worth investing in -- someone with an enlarged worldview who is not afraid to grow.
Working with hundreds of colleges and universities from across the country, API offers students the occasion to interact with, and become friends with, other students from across the U.S.
API provides beginning to high-level coursework (including graduate work) for both the language and the non-language student, in English (in some locations) and the foreign language of the host country. Choose from courses in Liberal and Studio Arts, Humanities, Business, Language, History, Science and more!
Programs are available for quarter, semester, summer, and academic year terms, as well as for two-week and month-long terms.
Each program includes tuition, housing, medical and life insurance (including medical evacuation and repatriation, as well as 24-hour support services for medical issues), local social activities, multiple cultural excursions and events, pre-departure and on-site orientations and support services, an on-site director, mobile phones (in most locations), tutoring, and much, much more.
API is available to help you meet your personal goals and needs, as well as the academic requirements you have from your home college/university. The experience of a lifetime awaits you, and API can make it happen!

I lived in Cork, Ireland for five months through API. I had a wonderful time! I loved the trips that API took us on, and the in-country leader was very approachable and friendly, and provided us with helpful tips & local recommendations. Our final trip was to Prague, Czech Republic, and I ended up moving there after college graduation. :) API helped to give me a great experience and support settling in. I feel like they helped to provide me with an authentic experience in Ireland, rather than a touristy view. We always stayed in nice places (including a 5-star hotel in Prague), but many of them were off the beaten path, and we always had input in where we went. I was so happy that I chose this program, as many of my friends were unhappy with theirs, and desired to go on our adventures! I would highly recommend API (and have) for anyone who wishes to study abroad. |

The directors on-site were helpful and available within their office hours. Airport pickup, an international field trip, and more was included, with about one overnight field trip a month. US office was less helpful. This program expected students to be a little more independent, but would provide help, suggestions, and resources when asked. This program was a little more of a vacation/ party program than serious study, but I still got a lot from the experience. A smaller program compared to others in Granada, which was nice. Homestays were well screened compared to classmates in other (non-API) programs. |
