I am completely agreed with the last posting the Amistad Institute runs wrost program
in Costa Rica. And of couse, Marco
and other staffs are very rude. They
do not care what you say once they get money
so, avoid them. There are many good companies over there

I also agree with other volunteers comments. Amisted is the worst organization. The director of the organization Marco is the rudest person has no humer
Again, We did not have a participant called Nancy... ever!
This person does not exist in our records, so either is an ex volunteer using another name for some estrange reason, or a competitor making up a name to write bad things about that. :(
Hi, can you please give actual facts, i.e. how rude?
That will help,
Sussie
Could you tell me the dates that you attended the Institute? Your post says March of this year, is this correct?

I joined this organization back on 2008. I had a horrible time with them. the director (Marco) is most rude and Rebecca who is a siter of Marco also most rude to volunteer. My recomdation never use this organization.

Hi,
I am Rebecca Demes, Marcoīs "rude" sister, this looks as a competitorīs comment; by March, 2009; we did not have programs in San Isidro as we did before; so, no one was working there. It is sad to see how people just take time to do this kind of unethical competition.

I went directly with Amistad, even when some people were complaining, it was clear to me that they were not trying to volunteer (help), most of them were traying to get training.
I am a teacher, so I helped in that area and it was amazing, other volunteers did not have any idea about what to do or how. You are supossed to know how to do things if you want to volunteer (help).

I thought I signed up to ELI abroad but I guess they were just the middleman. The people were somewhat nice but all I heard was complaints from the other students about their volunteer placement. We were supposed to be volunteering in a clinic, but there was practically no work for us to do. I switch to work in a kids daycamp which was more fun. The whole experience wasn't terrible for me, but they just seem like they really over-promise and under-deliver. If you just want to do something fun in Costa Rica, this is for you. If you are really serious about volunteering, you should probably look elsewhere.

I was pretty satisfied with the homestay environment, the location, etc. However, the volunteer placement did not provide me with very valuable experience.
