DON’T VOLUNTEER WITH IVHQ! We were taken in by their slick website and lists of testimonials but the truth is these people are only interested in your money. If you have a disruption in your plans or need to cancel for some reason you can kiss your cash good-bye. They informed us 2 weeks before we were scheduled to arrive conditions at the volunteer house where we would be accommodated might be "unhealthy". They told us we could upgrade the accommodation for an additional $220 US. This was AFTER we had paid them the balance of the $550 US they requested we pay them to volunteer for a week. We had previously submitted health information (requested by them) outlining special health requirements so they were well aware of that BEFORE we submitted our balance payment. The condition at the volunteer house forced my friend to cancel. My friend and I wanted to volunteer together. They also knew that. When we both asked for a full refund and they refused stating we were not within their 60 day guideline for cancellation despite the fact they gave us ONLY a 2 week notice of the situation at the house. IVHQ could not justify a reason for withholding a refund (they said it was for “preparation for arrival” which is total BS). To add to that my friend wanted to teach Spanish and they told her she couldn’t volunteer in that role unless she took 2 courses from them at a price of over $400 US. Her parents are from Peru and she speaks fluent Spanish. We have both volunteered around the world and are over qualified for this kind of service. Bottom line is: IVHQ has no interest in your volunteer passion. They are business not a charity and they only want your money.

Volunteering in a different country with an entirely different culture and language altogether has changed my perspective on the different lifestyles each individual may have. Being in Vietnam for a month, I've learned that a simple smile speaks so much more than words could, especially with the language barrier. Making friends with other volunteers from different countries and hearing their own stories of their own cultures has also broadened my view of other nations.

Overall my stay in Vietnam was truly a great investment. Not only did I make friends from all over the world, I made friends with whom I had great and amazing adventures with even in a short period of time. I've gained so much exposure that I couldn't have ever gotten just from watching videos or even documentaries on the TV or the internet. You've got to experience it all by yourself by taking that leap of faith and stepping into an unknown ground. Trust me, you might not like it at first, but over time, it'll grow on to you. Just like how Vietnam has grown on to me. When I look back on my volunteering experience in Vietnam, I'll always feel a sense of warmth. Till then Vietnam9especially my IVHQ family there), I'll see you soon!

I would highly recommend to volunteer with IVHQ in Vietnam as it is a life changing experience and enables to open up your eyes to a completely different culture and lifestyle. Although at times, it was quite challenging due to being away from home IVHQ team was extremely supportive and helpful. I will definitely volunteer with IVHQ in the near future again.

IVHQ is super helpful, I was doing a four-weeks Childcare program in Thailand, and this was my first time volunteering abroad, I was nervous at first, but the IVHQ staff contacted me and gave me a lot of guide and useful information, so I can prepare well before I go.

I enjoyed my experience in Thailand so much, it was so rewarding. I made a lot of International friends, the food and accommodation were good, we got a lot of chance to interact with the local people and learn about their culture, we also travelled a lot and explored a lot.

The local staffs were super nice and helpful, they provided good food, they taught us Thai language, they translated for us all the time, they cared about our health. one day, one volunteer was sick, one staff drove her to the local clinic immediately, we were very impressed.

Overall, Thailand is a amazing place, people are so friendly, and IVHQ is definitely a good choice.

I was in India for one month. During this month I was able to learn so much about the culture, customs, and people of this great country. IVHQ offers an orientation week that allowed me and a group of volunteers to learn more about this history of India. After the week was up, we were all off to our volunteer sites. I worked as slum teaching in New Delhi. It was an experience that I would gladly repeat again. The homestay that I was placed at was with Chandni and Mohit. These beautiful individuals made my Indian experience that much more meaningful. They welcomed me in and from day one I felt like family. I can't believe my month is already over, but I'm looking forward to returning in the future and I'd definitely do it with IVHQ.
