I am so glad I chose this program for my volunteer project. It has been an amazing experience that has led to a lot of personal growth. All of the people I've met have been so kind and helpful, and I'm incredibly grateful for the support and kindness they have given to me. I would definitely recommend this program to those who are willing to work hard and experience a new culture from a different point of view than that of a tourist.

You have been such a helpful addition to our program. Thank you so much for choosing to come to the program in Costa Rica and stay with me at the volunteer home, you are such a great person inside and out!

We enjoyed our time in Costa Rica and had good experiences, but we felt that the coordination of our volunteer sites was lacking. It seemed as if the site was not 100% prepared to have us there to help, and we ran out of tasks to help with on all of our volunteering days. It also would have been nice to have a more set schedule for our volunteering hours with more of a description of what we would be doing before we left. While we absolutely appreciate our time in Costa Rica and made the best of it, we felt that the money we paid to participate in the experience was a bit too much for what we really received.

It was a wonderful experience. Helping elderly people and being exposed to a different culture is so valuable. I wish that our tasks as volunteers in the volunteering site were more specific and clear, and more related to our educational background (pharmacy), so we can be more helpful and involved.

Great experience with great options! Only wish I had a better breakdown of where money was going.

I had a great time on this trip. The only issue I had was the fact that knowing Spanish is really essentially to get the most out of the experience, and we were told that you did not need to know any Spanish.
We volunteered at an old folks home which was interesting, but since no one spoke any English, I felt like I could hardly help at all. They also did not have a lot of medical things for us to do, so we ended up playing games with the residents and helped by feeding some people who could not feed themselves. This did not really pertain to anything I wanted to get out of this trip. Overall, there was a lot of down time, so we were able to go zip lining, visit turtle island, explore Jaco, and visit an animal rescue. Although we had to travel 2 hours go our site, I feel like we wouldn't have been able to do most of the things we did if we hadn't driven as far as we did.
Long story short, would recommend, but know at least intermediate Spanish.
