The monastery where I stayed was awesome. The monks were great and treated you with great respect. I would recommend this opportunity to all men regardless of the age. I am 66 and did not have a difficult time fitting in.
The supporting staff were attentive and I really found the language program beneficial. I'm convince that these people really want to make a difference.

A wonderful experience in Sri Lanka! I spent one incredible month in Galle working at the children's orphanage and then a school. Michael and his family gave me a very warm welcome and they were very helpful in helping me settle into the town and the volunteering placements. I thoroughly enjoyed staying in their lovely home and the food was delicious! During my stay I also took a four day tour around the country which Michael arranged. This was one of the (many!) highlights of my trip. My time in this beautiful country will stay with me forever. Thank you to Michael and family and to my friends that I met during my stay that helped make this trip so special.

I thought that the project and everything that came with it was great. Sadly I only had 2 weeks here in Nepal. In this time i met the most wonderful people and made great friends. To be integrated within this beautiful culture was an extraordinary experience and thought my a lot about what is really important.

I enjoyed this program a lot due to the fact that I enjoy traveling, and experiencing other cultures. The house I stayed at was a typical house, and we were located in Puntarenas... not the nicest town in some parts. However, I believe it added to the experience overall, and we did our volunteer work there. I enjoyed that all the volunteers were in the same house because, I was able to make friends and have a "safe haven" type of place. Lauren, the program coordinator, was able to customize my project site to something I enjoy. My volunteer project was great for me, I was able to shadow a vet and it allowed me to see if I want to pursue Veterinary medicine. The only thing is that the program its' self is very independent... meaning that on your free time you are allowed to travel/ do other activities. It took a few days to get used to, but I took advantage of the freedom and traveled with some other volunteers. It was a great experience overall, and I recommend it to people who are open to adventure and work!
